Kazuno City - Oyu Stone Circle
Centered on Nonaka and Manza Stone Circles, this
Special Historic Site is the remains of a
large-scale, Jomon Era site that appears to have
been established four millenia ago. Theories abound
about this site's function, but Oyu remains
shrouded in mystery.

Takanosu Town - Isedotai Ruins
This area is thought to have been used as a large ritual ground
around 4000 years ago. Excavations in 1995 and 1996 covered an
area of approximately 7000 m2
and unearthed several stone circles, gravesites, and the remains
of several buildings.

Akita City - Masakichi Hirano Museum of Art
In both size and quality, one of Japan's best collections of world-renowned
painter Fujita Tsuguji, who was later baptized and took the name
Leonard Fuijta. The massive 3.6 x 20.5-m Akita no Gyoji (Events
of Akita) highlights a collection including works by such
masters as Van Gogh.

Kakunodate Town - Kakuondate Bukeyashiki and
Cherry Bark Craft Museum
Kakunodate is famous for its well-preserved bukeyashiki samurai
manors, and for its exquisite cherry bark crafts. The museum not
only explains the process required to make these crafts with displays
and demonstrations, but also has historical and cultural exhibits,
and a gift shop with local products.

Oga City - Namahage Museum
The Oga Peninsula is famous
throughout Japan for the demonic namahage who visit
local houses on New Year's Eve, seeking to spirit

Oga City - Oga Shinzan Folklore Museum
Built in the L-shaped residential style typical of the Oga peninsular
area, this museum displays Namahage masks and holds Namahage shows, so
you can experience this fascinating local tradition even if you’re
not in Oga on New Year’s Eve. The museum building is a national
Tangible Cultural Property.
