Hiraizumi Town - Motsuji Main Hall
The primary object of veneration here is not the Amida Buddha
many would expect, but rather Yakushi, the healer. This Heian
Era (794 - 1192) statue is flanked by the Bodhisattva's Nikko
(Suryaprabha) and Gakko (Chandraprabha).

Morioka City - Hara Kei Memorial Museum
In 1919 Hara Takashi, better known
as Hara Kei, of Morioka, became the first prime
minister of Japan's new political parliamentary
government. Hara Kei's books, letters, and diaries
- over 400 items in total - are on display in this
museum.

Tono City - Denshoen
The Kikuchi Family Nambu Magariya
farmhouse, an Important Cultural Asset, forms the
centerpiece of this exhibit of restored local
historical farmhouses. Straw craft demonstrations
and delicious traditional local foods can also be
enjoyed here.

Tono City - Chiba Family Magariya
Nambu Magariya farmhouses are
easily recognizable from their thatched roofs and L
shape. The short end of the L is a horse stable,
the long end the family's living quarters.

Hanamaki City - Miyazawa Kenji Memorial
Museum
Kenji was a true renaissance man,
active in an extraordinarily wide range of fields.
This museum displays Kenji's thought and work
broken down into seven categories, environment,
faith, science, art, agronomy, general, and
documentation.

Morioka City - Bank of Iwate Nakanohashi
Branch
Formerly the headquarters of
Morioka Bank and now an Important Cultural Asset,
the renaissance-style Bank of Iwate Nakanohashi
Branch was designed by a team including Tatsuno
Kingo, and built in 1911.

Morioka City - Morioka Memorial Museum of Great
Predecessors
On the first floor there are
individual exhibition rooms for such historically
important figures as Nitobe Inazo, Yonai Mitsumasa,
and Kindaichi Kyosuke. On the second floor are
collections of 122 other historical Moriokans'
various personal effects.
