Ryusendo Youth Travel Village (Iwaizumi Town)

Only 10 minutes from Ryusendo, one of Japan's most famous limestone caves, this facility bustles with families and young people visiting the cave. The Travel Village is also located on the route from the coastal Rikuchu Kaigan National Park to the mountainous Towada-Hachimantai National Park.

Yakehashiri Campground (Hachimantai City)

25 cabins complete with showers, gas ranges, TVs, and heaters are complemented by 50 auto-campsites with water and electricity, providing a total capacity of roughly 1,500 happy campers. Not only is this one of the largest campsites in Iwate, but the neighboring Yakehashiri no Yu Hot Spring alone is worth the trip.

Umagaeshi Campground, Ainosawa Campground (Takizawa Village)

Ainosawa sits at the base of Mt. Kurakakeyama, while Umagaeshi is conveniently located at the entrance to Mt. Iwate's popular Umagaeshi Trail. Both have cooking areas, though the former adds log cabins and a spring, and the latter a fire circle.

Gandoko Family Travel Village Auto-Campground (Morioka City)

This outdoor recreation facility, outfitted with tennis courts and open areas to play in, is conveniently located by the shores of Lake Gandoko.

Fureai Land Iwaizumi (Iwaizumi Town)

Situated on the south side of the Rte 455 driver's oasis Michi no Eki Iwaizumi, Fureai Land provides a great base for excursions to Ryusendo Cave, Kitayamazaki Promontory or its coastal companion Kuma no Hana, the highlands of Hayasaka Kogen, the fishing of Akkegawa River, and more.
