Morioka City - Morioka City Yonai Waterworks

30 weeping cherries (Morioka City Protected Trees) put on an impressive display of floral elegance every year.

Morioka City - Takamatsu no Ike Pond

With a great view of Mt. Iwate in the background and 1000 blooming cherries all around, Takamatsu no Ike is a favorite spot with Moriokans. The area is even lit up at night, allowing the fun to last late into the evening.

Tono City - Fukusenji Temple

Even after the blooming of nearly 500 yoshino and hill cherries has ended, you can enjoy summer’s azaleas flowering in this giant, 2-km2 temple complex.

Kitakami City - Kitakami Tenshochi

Thousands of cherry trees bloom along the Kitakami Riv at Tenshochi, one of Japan's 100 best cherry blossom-viewing spots. During the Cherry Blossom Festival, riverboats and horse-drawn carriages are available. For a change of pace, come at night to see the blossoms illuminated in soft light.

Morioka City - Rock-Splitting Cherry Tree

This 10-m tall cherry tree out in front of the Morioka District Court gorws up from a granite boulder 23 m around. Estimated at over 350 years old, this symbol of Morioka is a National Natural Monument.
