Lake Tazawa (Tazawako Town, Nishiki Vil.)

The deepest lake in Japan is nestled in green mountains which reflect in its azure waters. Tourist spots abound in the surrounding area, and Tazawa's white beaches are filled with bathers in season.

Yasu no Taki Falls (Kitaakita City)

A breathtaking 90-m set of two falls stream gracefully down from a sheer cliff, creating a seasonal panorama with the new green of spring and foliage of fall. Find out for yourself why this is one of Japan's 100 Best Waterfalls.

Nanataki Falls (Kosaka Town)

Another of Japan's 100 Best, this 60-m waterfall was given the name "7 Falls" in Japanese for reasons you can probably guess. Beat a retreat from the summer heat, or enjoy the glory of fall's colors.

U no Saki Coast (Oga City)

This 1.5-km beach area stretches from Onnagawa in southern Oga Peninsula to its northern tip in Daishima. Designated one of Japan's 100 Best Beaches, U no Saki is known both for low tide's 200-m-wide shallows, and for evening's blazingly romantic sunsets.

Nyudozaki Cape (Oga City)

This grassy peninsula juts out into the Sea of Japan, capped with a lighthouse and a monument of local stone to the cape's place on the 40o parallel.

Yuze Gorge (Kazuno City)

Dairakyo Gorge (Fujisato Town)

Cryptomeria trees nearly two centuries old guard this gorge's varied waterfalls and boulders and rock formations.

Nagaki Gorge (Odate City)

Located near Yukisawa Hot Spring, this gorge is famous for its falls and rocks.

Komatakyo Gorge (Kitaakita City)

Over 100 falls, pools, and churn holes dot the Norogawa as it makes its way from the untouched woods at the eastern foot of Mt. Moriyoshiyama. A well-kept path of 1.7 km leads to the three-staged Sankaidaki Falls in this Prefectural Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. The gorge can be reached from the base of Moriyoshiyama, or by boat from Lake Taiheiko (Jun – Oct; Adult \1100, Child \1000, Handicapped 1/2 price).
