Kenji Festival (Hanamaki City)

September 21 is the anniversary of the death of Hanamaki's prodigal son. Held in front of the monument to Hanamaki Renaissance man Miyazawa Kenji's most famous poem, Ame ni mo makezu, this festival honors the famous author with poetry readings, stage versions of his stories, and Hanamaki's famous Shishi Odori.

All-Japan Nambu Cattle-Driving Song Contest (Iwaizumi Town)

Iwaizumi is the home of this nationally famous song, and Fureai Land Iwaizumi is a fitting location for this contest. The simultaneously occurring Odense Begokko Festa adds shorthorn beef for sale and events aplenty.

Kamaishi Marugoto Mikaku Gourmet Festival (Kamaishi City)

Gathering the bounty of the ocean, and the richness of the mountains! A festival of industry, of fishery, and agriculture all under one roof.

Ishidoriya Sake Festival (Ishidoriya Town)

A festival befitting the home of the master sake brewers known as Nambu Toji. With sake and events spotlighting Ishidoriya's industries, live jazz, and a drinking song contest featuring songs from all over Japan, fun is sure to be had by all.

Miyako Salmon Fishing (Miyako City)
