Hanamaki Festival (Hanamaki City)
Begun four centuries ago to honor Hanamaki's founding father,
Kita Shosai, this energetic parade of floats and portable mikoshi
shrines continues to be a great attraction and a great unifier,
as the whole town comes out to make this event spectacular. During
the festival, you can also enjoy local performing arts, including
dances like Shishi Odori.

Fujiwara Fall Festival (Hiraizumi Town)
This fall festival pays tribute to the Fujiwara family who brought
immeasurable wealth and glory to Hiraizumi in the twelfth century.
The beauty of fall is accentuated with colorful parades and performing
arts, and with Noh at Chusonji and the sacred dance, Ennen no
Mai, at Motsuji.
